Romance in the Air?

I know, I know. It’s been ages again. I’m afraid for the moment that is likely to be the pattern. I can’t rely on The Help. She isn’t old, but like me her immune system isn’t good (unlike me inbreeding is not the cause!!!!!).

So for a while posts are likely to be random unless some new medication begins to work in which case she could be like a runaway train.

'We're doing a blog? Really? Finally!'

‘We’re doing a blog? Really? Finally!’

I’m sorry that we’ve been keeping you on the edge of your seats.

We haven’t?

You mean you’ve forgotten? You have a life apart from me? How is that even possible?

Well! I am shocked. I’m not sure I will recover. I had thought that I would be in your thoughts night and day. However. I will rise from the bitter blow. I will move forward and remind you of my dilemma.

In one of my last posts I met Prince, the vertically challenged corgi who I charged at making loud noises which is the way I vet all new dogs and which is really an invitation to play. It is. Honestly. Ask any dog. They never bother. In fact usually they ignore me so they can’t feel threatened. The owners don’t always like it though and The Help gets embarrassed. Anyway, I digress.

Do you remember now? Shall I continue with the story? It seemed appropriate to get everyone up to date especially at this time as the world is gearing up for Valentines day and romance. I am very current am I not? My story is probably being played out in a billion homes all over the world.

To remind you of Prince here is his picture.

Prince

Prince

Prince has been to the park a couple of times since our first introduction. As you know, I was agonising over our future together. Here was I Princess Zena, and here was Prince. Was he my Prince? It never occurred to me that I might not be his Princess, after all I am ….. Gorgeous.

You see? Wonderful. Who could not adore me :-D

You see? Wonderful. Who could not adore me πŸ˜€

He certainly wasn’t my idea of my prince, but then how often do we meet our ideal prince? Was I being sizist? Yes, I do know that isn’t a word, but you know what I mean don’t you? If he was a little taller would I feel differently? After all, we all know that the outer package is just that, the wrapping, it’s what’s inside that counts.

By the way talking about wrappings, here’s a quick shot of me at Christmas. Who’s the best present of all?

Spot the dog

Spot the dog!

Anyway, back to the topic on hand. I felt the pressure I can tell you. Something was lacking. I tried hard to generate emotion. I felt I should feel something.

But I didn’t feel IT. I have to be honest. I wasn’t bowled over and like any Princess I wanted to feel excitement, anticipation, joy. Something. Anything. Nevertheless I decided I had to give him a chance. If the universe was bringing me my Prince who was I to turn tail and run.

I thought and thought

I thought and thought

I gave him a chance. I gave him two. And nothing. Zilch. Nada. Rien. The last time I saw him I didn’t even want to rush at him I just felt a dreadful boredom and I could see he felt the same. He lives with another corgi called Pemba so I think they’re happy together and I’m so relieved about that. I understand it too. When I had Zac, I had my Prince. I didn’t need anyone else (except The Help, we still need the opposable thumb thing for opening tins).

Perhaps a girl only has one Prince. And do you know what? I’m okay with that. I had the greatest Prince ever and I couldn’t find another. I don’t want to find another. I’m happy to have the memory of my Prince and cherish the times we had. Now I’m happy to have friends.

Me, the pup and Ollie hanging out at the park (sorry about the blurry pic we didn't want to keep still).

Me, the pup and Ollie hanging out at the park (sorry about the blurry pic we didn’t want to keep still).

It has made me think though. I’ve deigned to play with Raffles a couple of times this week, not too often because I don’t want him to think he’s won me over, it’s only been 18 months. I have wondered about him finding his special somedog (it definitely is not me) but he seems happy having lots of pals. His bestie is Cassie but he has a special friendship with Ollie too.

Ollie & Raff have a bit of a bromance going on :-)

Ollie & Raff have a bit of a bromance going on πŸ™‚ And yes, that is genuine licking, no sticks or anything in the mouth.

Sitting in the park the other day I watched the lad running and playing with Cassie, his bestie. He was having the time of his life. I don’t really run and play like that so much anymore, I like a supervisory role but I’m glad the pup has friends to play with. He has a great time with Ollie, they hug and kiss and then he runs and plays with Daisy and to be honest any friendly dog at the park can have Raffy. Yes. He’s that easy….. going πŸ™‚

I remember playing with Zac, it was cool. I remember playing sniffs in the garden with him and watching tv and seeing who could finish dinner first. Life was more fun with him. But you know what they say, better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.

I have had my Prince and I’m not looking to replace him. I have some pals who accept me around and don’t hassle me. They accept me for who I am and don’t ask more from me than I’ll give. That’s a pretty good place to be.

Anyone want to tell the guy he's too big for my favourite bed?

Wreck It Raff

I am trying to be an understanding princess.

I understand that The Help has two parents she gives a lot of time to.

I understand that The Boss is still recovering from the eye surgery gone wrong and it has been almost five weeks since he could drive.

I understand that he is fed up but at least he does seem to be recovering now.

I understand that The Help had a morning in the hospital having a procedure she won’t talk about and she has lots of appointments for herself, The Boss and her parents.

I understand that we have been lucky not to have missed a morning in the park or my cuddles in the evening despite all of this.

However, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND how they could leave me so often alone with ‘Wreck it Raff’ and think it’s okay!

Park Day Princess

parkday1_thumb

Gizmo over at Terrier Torrent has declared 26 April Park Day. So I thought I’d join in.

Gizmo does something calls geo-caching which sounds fun, complicated and like you might need to walk through mud or water so I don’t do that.

I do however go to the park every day. Most of you have seen my park. We have a few places around us where we can go but we love going where we meet up with our pals to play.

Here’s some of my Park Day contributions, I hope you don’t find them too tame after Gizmo’s adventures!

My park has the best smells

My park has the best smells

My park has great space to run free

And there's sometimes good places to hide.

And there’s sometimes good places to hide.

At my park I keep the score!

At our park we meet our pals.

At my park all shapes and sizes are welcome

At my park we can all join in

At my park we get cuddles too

At my park sometimes I join in the fun.

At my parkΒ  I join in the fun.

Sometimes I stand and watch

Sometimes I sit and watch

Sometimes I sit and think (really, I do)

Sometimes I find a good stick to chew

At my park we always have fun and I get lots of exercise

And after our daily play at the park we always do this!

And after our daily play at the park we always do this!

This is my real-life park. I am not an intrepid explorer like Gizmo.

I have the beach nearby but I don’t like getting my paws wet.

I am a social butterfly. I enjoy going to my local and meeting up with the pals for a run. I am motivated by the group.

So this is my Park Day contribution.

Have fun from Zena, the stay-at-home Princess

The Playful Princess

Many people have asked The Producer for a video. She is not very technical so you have to forgive the quality, the shakes and the boring bit in the middle! However, it does show you how much I am suffering! She is also mean and hasn’t paid for a video upgrade so you have to watch this through YouTube. I just hope she gets it right.

The Fashionista Princess

Having talked about my own fashion line for a while I thought I would let you know some of the hottest trends for Princess dogs out there at the moment and the sorts of things I’m interested in because being a Princess isn’t easy. It takes sacrifice and investment, The Producer needs to understand that she should invest in me and that it’s worth her sacrifice!

For those of us who are graced with longer locks, hair accessories may be just the thing to brighten up a dull day and draw attention to the eyes, always an important feature of us dogs.

These are just two girly examples of the types of things that can be found. Guys if you want something I’m sure I can do some research!

Now just having had a new bed I’m all set in that department. I love my furry butterfly Zena Cave, but if I had spied this little number before The Producer had left I might have put in an order.

Clearly the little dog would not be part of the bargain. I would probably want to add pink chiffon curtains and perhaps a little touch of Swarovski crystals to the crown. Perhaps Lady Litchfield would like this one?

In OZ now we are moving towards the summer and although our spring has been remarkably wet so far (for us) when the sun does shine it does get bright. These glasses are pictured in gold but I of course would want them in pink with crystals inset along the sides.

The Producer isn’t really into coats and clothes for me, though she buys enough for herself, but I went and found a selection anyway just to give you all an idea of the sorts of things you can buy for yourselves.

A raincoat, a must for these wet spring mornings

The gold is great for any shade of coat

I am not a fan of the car as you know. I do tend to be a tad impatient about arriving and find it hard to settle. This mode of transport looks quite comfortable but I’m not sure it would help me to become a better traveller, once again, dog not included!

Most of us dogs have a collar, guys and gals, and I believe that too little thought is given to these essential items. I myself have been given a red leather collar – red leather! No imagination! I have posted the one below which I think is much more suited to my desired status of celebrity, bling is a must if you want to be noticed.

Christmas is coming and if your people want to get you that gift which has that rock-chic vibe let them know that you want your own guitar!

Impress the guy or gal next door with one of these

And if you are new in the market of accessories here is just a little of what you can try to persuade your people to buy for you. The stuffed dog is a model but would make a great toy to chew.

Inevitably fashion can go a little too extreme and although these methods of transport may make these very little furry friends happy, this is not how I want my public to view me!

Finally here is a little something which I have created in order to really add that celebrity gloss. The trainer Cesar has highlighted how many dogs like to carry things in a backpack so I have created my own modelled by a friendly Puli. In this bag all the essentials can be held including, as pictured, the necessary celebrity accoutrement to add a little style to your walks.

So those are my fashion tips folks – lots of love from the Mischievous Princess

PS: For those who are new to my blog, none of these things are for sale through me, and nothing in this post is to be taken seriously. This is all very much tongue in cheek πŸ™‚

PPS: A more serious and possibly disquieting announcement could be on the way soon – can you guess? Some of you should because I’ve left hints on your comments.

The Pudgy Princess

Ha! That title caught your attention didn’t it? Well, you will be pleased to hear that I am not really pudgy, although I have gained a little weight with my new almost raw food (that’s another story).

The title was supposed to catch your attention and underline the fact that I HAVE ANOTHER AWARD and this one is a really pretty one. This is the ONE SWEET BLOG AWARD and if I did eat all of those cupcakes I would indeed be podgy! So I’ll give them to The Producer and she can eat them and be plump because it doesn’t matter about her figure but if I’m to be a reality star I really need to watch the waistline.

This really cute award was given to me by the supportive piggies at Hutch A Good Life. I think Basil had something to do with it!
So thank you my piggy friends, I really appreciate your support.

I think animal cupcakes are a great idea and I am planning on getting The Producer to create cupcakes with my picture on them for her next party. I wonder if the local pet shop would be interested?

We have to pass it onto five friends and I’m getting in quick because I know that this is quite a new award and before long I won’t have five friends who haven’t had it!

Yay guys! Enjoy the cakes and be sure to run around and burn off the calories afterwards so you don’t become pudgy!

I Am Dog – Hear Me Raw!!

This week has been a confusing one for me. This is where Zac used to help me so much. At night he would explain all these little things I didn’t understand. I’m not sure I could always believe him, but most of the time he was a truthful Tibbie.

I am confused because The Producer called me a guinea pig. Guinea Pig! I am not a guinea pig!

Don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with being a guinea pig. Some of my best online pals are guinea pigs. I’m thinking ofΒ  Nutty, Nibbles, Buddy and Basil. I have seen their pictures and we are nothing alike.

I am a dog. I am a TT, a Tibbie. A Tibetan Terrier. See. Below is a picture of me and a guinea pig. We are not alike are we?

Sigh. I think it has something to do with this new diet I am on. Raw meat. I love it. Before I would sometimes eat, sometimes not, now I am finishing every meal.
But I know The Producer hasn’t got it for me because I am a picky eater although I prefer the phrase gastronomically challenged.

She is trying this diet to see if it improves my health not wishing to lose another pal too early. At the moment I still scratch my tummy as much as I did but she is watching me!! I never did have the ear infections and joint and bone problems Zac had, so The Producer is not as concerned, she just wants to do the best for me. So I am back to this dilemma of being called a guinea pig.

No offence to guinea pigs but I am The Princess. I am a dog. See. Look at my picture. Does that look like a guinea pig to you? And would guinea pigs eat raw meat? I think not. I am all dog. Judge for yourselves!

Love The Princess – A DOG!!!!
