The Princess Tails

The Musings of Zena, a Tibetan Terrier sharing her life and wisdom with Raffles, a Standard Poodle

The Emotional Princess

It has been a busy, busy week. The Help has been busy and Blogville has been busy.

First of all on the ground here The Help has been driving The Boss around as he recovers from the eye surgery.

Apparently all has not gone as smoothly as it could and there is a little haemorrhage into the eye. Nothing serious the doctor says but it slows down progress.

I do not have a strong stomach for the queasy stuff so when they start talking about it I do this:

Stop! I feel sick....

Stop! I feel sick….

Or this:

I’ll be glad for him when it’s all better.

As well as being busy at home Blogville has been a very busy place.

You may have heard that Misaki from The Misadventures of Misaki, a very attractive Alaskan Malamute, held a competition to find the first Patron Saint of Blogville.

There were thousands of entrants, well hundreds, well – a lot. I sent in a picture of the boy slaying a monster in the garden.

You can see here his commitment to learning how to be the best bodyguard he can be.

He didn’t win.

Perhaps I should have sent a picture of him slaying naughty monkey.

I haven’t told him he didn’t win partly because I didn’t tell him he was entered! He will improve at these things, we knew he was an outsider and still has a lot to learn.

There was however a very deserving and favoured winner. One who will fit the role so well and has already begun her ‘rule’ of Saint in a magnificently saintly way.

This is of course Mollie from Mollie’s Dog Treats.

Saint Mollie

Aren’t those eyes compelling?

And there was an equally moving runner up with Doggy from Doggy’s Style.

Saint Doggy

Saint Doggy

Fortunately Doggy had had a haircut for the day so his lovely eyes were on show to wring the hearts of all voters.

I was delighted with the results. We’ve talked about Mollie a lot and she spreads a lot of fun and goodness around Blogville and to prove it she passed on her prize to me!! (Well, maybe Raffles). How noble is that?

I was humbled and teary by the beautiful things that she said about me and it only goes to show how right it was that she won in the first place!

She is such a wise and discerning Mollie 😉 She made me feel a real star.

So a huge thank you to Mollie and I am so pleased that Doggy got runner up too.

It was great to see everyone’s contribution but sobering to see how dangerous Petville is out there. Apart from Raffles fighting his monster, we had Austin fighting a pom-pom, Shiner battling a stuffie, Easy scrapping with a Stegosaurus (hedgehog),  Molly wrestling a Wenlock, Rumpy and Casey clashed with a dinosaur, and many other monsters the most scary of which seems to have been the killer carrot that Cress tangled with.

I had no idea that my toybox was so dangerous. It’s a good thing I have Raffy the Slayer for protection.

So once again thank you to my Blogville pals. Thank you for dreaming up fun things to take part in which helps to leaven the seriousness of reality and thank you for the generous spirit of friendship, encouragement and caring which I continue to receive.

And there are still many competitions out there to have fun with. Raffles and I are part of two coming up:

Sammy from One Spoiled Cat’s 2nd Blogosphere Anniversary Slumber Party May 10th

Hutchagoodlife is having a Blogoversary party with wild party pictures, The Help may well be shocked 😉

Keep an eye out for these fun events and I’m sure there are many more.

Have a wonderful day

I am The Princess (aka Zena), niece of Zac the All Black and awesome Tibetan Terrier who took me in when I was just a six week pup and tried to teach me all he knew. When I was six and he was eight, Zac crossed over the rainbow bridge and all of a sudden I was alone. I could no longer be the ditzy, happy-go-lucky pup that I had been. This is a diary of how one Princess managed when the world turned real.

  1. Awww what a lovely post Miss Zena.
    Have a grrreat weekend,
    Wally & Sammy

  2. OMC Princess, Raffles takes his job seriously on the monkey, there’s almost nothing left of it. I hope The Boss his eye feels better soon. Have a wonderful weekend 🙂

    • Thanks Little Binky, yes…. poor Monkey, he is still with us but a shadow of his former self! We think the eye is slowly improving thanks for the thoughts 🙂

  3. It’s impressive to see how hard Raffles is working on the skills he needs to be your bodyguard! I love the way the sun is catching you in that last photo.

    • He has a way to go yet. I fear, despite photos to the contrary this week, that he lacks the ‘killer’ instinct! I suspect he may look to me to protect him.
However, I will keep on training him.
Thanks, I rather liked that photo too, I thought I looked, well, thoughtful 🙂

  4. Hope Daddy’s eye gets better real soon.. You are a True Princess Zena, Raffles and I are the same, I can kill a stuffie in two seconds flat..Bawahhaaaw xx00xx

    Mollie and Alfie

  5. Hi Zena! What a great blog today……I was surprised Raffi the magnificent didn’t win the contest but Mollie and Doggy just “one-upped” him enough to win. Well – there’s always NEXT time! I do think it was very nice that Saint Mollie donated her prize to YOU…..Mollie’s a special lady for sure but then you are too! You’re right about it being a busy time in Blogville…..I’m so glad you guys are coming to my pawty and we’ll see you at all the others I’m sure…… It looks quite beautiful there in Australia this time of year – enjoy it – we’re loving our Spring.

    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

    • Thanks Sammy, we’re looking forward to the party and seeing everyone in their pj’s. I’m quite sure there are going to be some very amusing contestants 🙂
You have a wonderful day and continue to enjoy your Spring 🙂

  6. You’re right Zena, Blogville’s calendar is just packed and May is just beginning…We anipals do know how to pawty…I thought St. Mollie did a beautiful thing in sharing with you…She’s a great furriend to all…Have a wonderful weekend

  7. We hope your “Bosses'” eye is feeling better soon. It is no fun when they aren’t well is it? We have no stomach for “queasy” stuff either!

    • We think he is improving a little. At least he is still able to see well enough to take us out on a walk and as he can’t drive he’s around more often. Every cloud……. 😀

  8. Great post! First: all my best wishes for the eyes of THE BOSS. Oh Raffles let it snow in your crib… think currently his doing seems promising, huh? I’ll bet he will became famous soon, in which way ever :o) Have a wonderful friday dear Princess :o)

    • Thanks Easy. Yes, it has certainly been snowing A LOT around here. The Help is moaning about having to clear up the innards of little stuffed toys all the time but that’s what she’s for! The plus side is that now most of the toys have been de-stuffed they fit into the toybox better!
Thanks for the wishes, I think they’re working.
You take care and have a wonderful Easy weekend 🙂

  9. It doesn’t look that autumny to me-everything is so green.

    • Yes we are a bit topsy-turvy. Things are often greener with us in the autumn and winter than in summer when it all dries up. We have a couple of trees that are denuded but the local trees don’t lose their leaves at all and we have roses and other flowers out. The Help and The Boss grew up in the Northern Hemisphere so it is always a little bit odd to them too 🙂

  10. Black against read, too nice.
Raffles was the true winner, Mollie cheated like crazy, she’s a convicted fellon you know, she’s behind bars for fraud and assault.
Doggy got his haircut a few weeks ago, we’ll be able to see his eyes for a couple months.
    You deserve all the best..

    • Thanks Doggy. I cannot think ill of Mollie, she must have been set-up!
My eyes are disappearing under the shaggy coat and I know it is only a matter of time before the clippers come out – but I am passively resisting. The Help is on my side but I can see her resolve waiver when she talks about bathing me and with long hair I have to be groomed every day.
Take care and have a wonderful weekend 😀

  11. What a fab post. Maybe you should make sure your help doesn’t see the pigtures! It can be our little secret!

  12. Zena I await to hear what is happening ‘on the other side of the planet’ … it seems like all is well and lots of fun to be had … looking forward to the next update … Many blessings from your Stateside Admirer…. Margaret

  13. I LOVE Raffles’ pictures!! We have some brave furiends among us!!! I feel much safer now!! 😉

    • 😀 He does photograph rather well. Sadly, I have to admit I am more of a challenge to photograph but sometimes the prize you have to fight for is the one worth having!!!
He is such a big fellow that I do feel braver when I’m out and about with Raffles.
      Have a great weekend 🙂

  14. I am so happy you got a prize Zena, as you are such a sweet and caring friend for all of us here in blogville 🙂 Mollie will make a wonderful Saint, she spreads happiness like wildfire that girl! I had food poisoning and wasn’t out of bed much this week, so I missed the whole fun competition. I am just catching up now, but it looks like you all had a great time!

    • Awwwww thank you for that and I’m so sorry about the food poisoning 😦 That is not much fun. I hope you can join in with some of the other competitions around.
And yes, I agree Miss Mollie does spread happiness around and she looks good with it – some gals have it all 😀

  15. I think the humans do not give us enough credit for protecting them from all these monsters 😉

Thank you, Zena, for stopping by my bloggie and sending good wishes to Milou. We are all relieved that he feels better now!

Lots of purrs to you and also to the Boss for a prompt recovery!

    • You are so right Texas, we are underrated! Just glad that Milou is doing better. My heart always skips a beat when I hear of a furpal being sick and I get frightened.

  16. Got the prize today and i’ll be posting it to you on tuesday after the bank holiday:-)

  17. Oh Zena you are so very gracious and generous yourself sweet girl furriend. And I too would not listen to the icky stuff and would hide my head. Raffles does seem to enjoy being a demolition crew of one huh?

  18. Hey Zena!
Mes wants to thanks yous for visiting Mommy’s other blog and me wants to tells yous Raffy is a impressive stuffie killer! Yous knows my hairy slobbery sister Bob is so good, she still has the grey cat she got the day she came to lives with us!
She LOVES her BobBoo and protects it from Cinnamon.

  19. Raffles really did a number on those toys! I bet your peeps go through a lot of them in your house! Great post as always, Zena. Much love, the Scottie Mom.

    • Thanks Scottie Mom, yes we certainly are going through the toys at the moment. In fact The Help is off to get some more today as most of the others seem to be rather limp and lifeless 🙂

  20. into mischeif again, very unlike you guys 😉 Hope you had a good monday!

  21. Hey, typist dog also slayed one of those cheeky monkeys – should we be worried there is more than one? *concerned ears*

    • Dalton, you raise an important concern. There could be an army of cheeky monkeys let loose on the dog population with sinister intent.
