The Proud Princess

I won!

I won!

I won!

Well, okay. I didn’t win, but I did come runner up.

My friends the piggies (and Basil who is the cutest guinea pig) awarded me runner up for my ‘Over the Shoebox’ caption song for Basil’s picture. If you want to see it go to Hutchagoodlife.

As a prize they made up a collage of ME looking gorgeous and cute which is great don’t you think? I want The Producer to make it into a Christmas Card this year – we are still talking about that.

Wonderful Me by Hutch A Good Life

It’s been a pretty full on week here with The Producer regularly disappearing to visit her father in the hospital. We hope he gets out soon. It has meant we are a little behind with your blogs though and very behind with my blog and my mission to become a celebrity. In fact I am a little concerned, I won’t stay young and beautiful forever and the window of opportunity is narrowing so I feel The Producer needs to really focus on ME.

Anyway. Earlier this week The Producer went to the local pet store where we can get groomed as well (this is the one Hugh Jackman attended which excited Zac so much). It is a small village pet store which is against selling dogs or cats in stores and is very pet friendly. We are allowed in and many of the treats are at dog level so that we can shop for our favourites! The Producer came across these and took a picture because they looked ‘good enough to eat’. Of course they looked good enough to eat, they are good enough to eat. She complained that they looked nicer than the people cupcakes next door in the bakery. Ha! At last someone somewhere has recognised our place in the scheme of things – at the top!

Pup Cakes from our local pet store

More tasty treats for those special occasions

I was a little annoyed that she didn’t bring us back any, but then I am getting a few more treats as they train The Puppy. I like having puppies around, I can boss them a little and I like the fact that they have to do all the work, sit, stay, come etc., and I hang around a get the treats with them. Clever isn’t it?

Talking of Raffles you probably want to know how we’re getting on. Well here are some snaps of him exploring the garden.

Green grass, cream dog, sunshine – what could be better? A black dog obviously!

Raffles tries out the sun lounger for size and comfort

Raffles thinking – no really, he does think – weird isn’t it?

At the moment Raffles doesn’t come to the leash free with me because he hasn’t had all of his vaccinations yet. So The Producer and I go alone and I have a time playing with some other dogs. I feel so much braver now that I have a big dog at home.

It is different than my relationship with Zac. He was my protector and everything to me. With Zac around I could be carefree and a puppy for the rest of my life. Not with Raffles. He is a puppy and although he is bigger and stronger than I am he knows that I call the shots when it comes to playtime.

I return from the park and that is when Zac and I used to tear around the house and have a play. For some reason my blood is up and I’m excited so I have continued this pattern with Raffles. I come home and shortly afterwards we’ll have a romp until I am tired and call a halt and then we do this:

My new bed and my new pal.

Yep. You saw it here first. I let him share my lovely new butterfly bed, although as you can see, he ended up with a bigger share in the end!

I think you can say that we are settling in together. Tomorrow he will have been with us a week.

Author: Zena

I am The Princess (aka Zena), niece of Zac the All Black and awesome Tibetan Terrier who took me in when I was just a six week pup and tried to teach me all he knew. When I was six and he was eight, Zac crossed over the rainbow bridge and all of a sudden I was alone. I could no longer be the ditzy, happy-go-lucky pup that I had been. This is a diary of how one Princess managed when the world turned real.

  1. It’s an adjustment. Today was the eighth day of my new white puppy.

  2. Lovely to see you both settling in together.

  3. Fabulous post, Zena. I hope your Producer’s father is soon well enough to leave the hospital. 🙂

  4. Zena that photo nearly made me cry! I am sooo happy that you and Raffles are getting along so well! It is ok that you have a different relationship than you did with zac. Zac taught you well so that you can properly instruct Raffles.
Those treats DO look good enough to eat! OMD! But how could you have NONE brought home for you?
Mom and I are hoping that the Producer’s father is on the road to recovery!
Barks and licks and love, Dakota

    • I know….. no treats at all and I think I have been a phenomenal Princess and deserve loads of Pup Cakes!
Thanks for the good wishes, we hope he’ll be out of hospital in the next few days. Then there will be another tale when Prissy Paws has to meet Raffles the Barbarian!

  5. Wowwie! Yous is like my hairynslobbery sisters! *Cinnamon and Bob) Bob tooked Cinnamon under wing (so to speak) within a couple of days. Me has NOT ever taken Kozmo under mine!

    • I’m not sure I had any choice in the matter – he’s bigger than me, heavier than me and is altogether MORE than me!
On the other hand I do enjoy having company again and it is lovely not to be alone at night and in the house when they go out (which isn’t often) so if that means I have to let him play with me and cuddle up when he’s feeling a baby I guess it’s a small price to pay.

  6. Oh Zena, that’s just great you two becoming best buddies 🙂 Big hug to Producers dad and we hope he has a speedy recovery xx00xxx

  7. More treats and some solo time with the humans? Having Raffles around sure does have advantages! We’re glad you’re happier about having him around now 🙂
    Your furbuddies,
    Joules & Prescott

    • I’m getting used to it, though I’m covered with puppy slobber and my fur is getting tangled. I’m being sent off for a groom and bath on Friday – yuck!

  8. Oh, Zena, that’s wonderful! Looks like a great friendship you have 🙂

    • He’s certainly giving me a workout at the moment, very full on but as he gets older I’m hoping he might slow down a bit. He will won’t he? Please – say he will??

  9. I’m glad that you and Raffles are getting along so well. It must be lovely for you to have a friend.
The treats in the pictures look wonderful.

    • Yes, I’m still annoyed with The Producer that I didn’t get any of those treats, but as I go to get groomed on Friday to the place that sells them, perhaps I’ll get one then. I think I deserve one for entertaining Raffles.

  10. That is heartwarming news Zena! Not so good on the Producer’s father – hope he’s home v soon. Keep up the good training work and insist on cupcakes as reward 😀

  11. Those pupcakes looked amazing!!
You and Raffles look very cosy, glad you’re getting along

    • I don’t think I have a choice any more, I am his bitch! My only hope is that he protects me when I’m on the reserve otherwise what’s the point of being nice?
Nah….. I sort of like him really, twist my paw a bit 🙂

  12. Oh Zena it’s grand that you and Raffles are becoming fast friends and cuddle buddies. I’m sure Zac is very proud of you leading the way and showing Raffles the way to fit in with your family! You are truly a Proud Princess – as you should be in every way. By the way, those pup cakes look DIVINE! I do believe you should have MANY of those as a reward for being the lovely Princess that you are! Concats on the second place win from our guinea pig buddies too – YAY!

    Kitty Hugs, Sammy

    • Do you know I have a real sympathy and a greater admiration for Zac now. He took me in when I must have been a pest and was so gentle with me. Of course I wasn’t big enough to roll him over with a single paw swipe, but nonetheless he taught me how to behave towards others and I am proud that he taught me so well 🙂

  13. Congratulations Princess!!!!! I’ve pushed the print button for get this fabulous cookies…. but it tasted only like paper… maybe the compawter has the next blackout and needs a hairdryer or have you any idea why?

  14. Awww this last picture is priceless… so so cute!
Glad you are getting along together =^.^=

  15. I don’t know if you will always be young Zena, but you will definitely always be beautiful!

    • Aww…. you certainly know how to sweet-talk a pooch. I will be more beautiful on Friday after the puppy slobber has been washed out. Of course what The Producer hasn’t come to terms with yet is that five minutes after my return from the groomers I will be covered in puppy slobber again!

  16. Pee-ess Zena..I wonder’z if our Humom’z are sister’z..BOL..Welsh ans dark 🙂 xx00

  17. Raffles is lovely – you two make a very beautiful family! Those treats sure are delicious looking, and almost too pretty to eat….but I think I could get past that…. 😉 Congrats on your win!

    • Thank you. Yes, he is handsome and when he learns his legs are connected to his body we’ll be able to walk to the park together and turn heads. I think he’ll be a good accessory for me to have on my paw.
