Mollie & Ranger’s Valentine’s Ball has arrived!
There is great excitement. Dancing. Drinking. Eating. And of course all the girls will be looking at what everyone else is wearing!

Today we are voting on the Sweetest and the Hottest couples. Tomorrow will be another voting day and they are keeping us in the dark about the categories.
This is a competition with real prizes which I know will be great.
So far I don’t have any votes but never mind! Even The Help hasn’t voted for me which I think is mean. She said it wasn’t sporting or something. I think she’s jealous 
After all, she isn’t going to a ball.
To be honest I don’t think she’s doing anything for Valentine’s Day. She is mumbling something about commercialism. Give me the opportunity to have fun and I’m there.
At one time I thought I might have to go with Raffles. This would not have been a disaster because he is a good looking fellow, but it was a little like going to the Prom with your brother (yuck!). You can imagine how pleased I was when Basil asked me to the ball with him. I have long thought him the cutest guinea pig in Blogville so I was happy. He turned up with these lovely roses and the cutest look on his little face. Well, judge for yourselves:

The Help does struggle on these occasions but I appreciate her hard work and I know she does her best (bless).

He turned up in the wonderful pink Limo and while I was admiring the colour, he shyly approached with those gorgeous roses which so matched my outfit (how did he know??). He was the perfect gentleman and we rode in style to the ball.
Meanwhile, Raffles was not left out. The very splendid lady Litchi invited him to the ball as her escort. I was so pleased when I heard that because it meant that I wouldn’t have to worry about him and I could have a good time. He was pleased too because he wasn’t going to be left out or have to alone which for one so young can be a painful experience.

Pretty fancy aren’t they? Apparently Litchi wanted Raffles to feel comfortable and so she wore her hair ‘a la Poodle” for the ball. Very classy I think.
We have a few days of fun but we started the whole event off with a wonderful sequence of dancing. Raffles and I had to do this one together because of all the rehearsing required, here’s a still taken by the Doggerazzi:

Have you measured how tall he is now?
I hadn’t until now – he is about 25″ at the shoulders, 63.5cm. He is taller and heavier than his pal Cassie now and heavier than Rosie and Ollie. Ringo is still the Starr (so far)

Wow! He IS my Pyrenean Poodle
Yes, everyone at the park with Standard Poodle’s comment that he is going to be a big one. The breeder did warn us, it was why she didn’t want to keep him, she likes the smaller, lightly built poodles. He was twice the size of his littermates. That doesn’t always mean he’ll be big but all the signs were there. We actually treat him a little like a giant breed and don’t over exercise him. He is easily tired
I think you’re wise to be be careful with his exercise while he’s young, like a giant breed – his growth rate is comparable. You’ll probably notice his appetite decrease, he must have needed quite a lot of food to grow that fast – just like I did.
Yes he did need a lot of food!! Some weeks his appetite increases and he needs a lot of food to satisfy him so we know a growth spurt is coming. At the moment he is eating normally so he will probably just increase a little. But I am aware he can keep growing until he is 3, probably more filling out than in height but I do suspect he has a bit of height in him yet.
I only grew about an inch in height after six months of age, but I did a lot of broadening out and maturing. But male dogs often keep growing in height a little longer, I’m told – a bit like human teenagers.
Yes, at only six months we do think he probably has another inch at least in him, but you can never be sure. He’s a good size now so if he only broadens out that’s fine with us

You’ve done such a great job. I am so grateful. Tried downloading some free photo editing software but haven’t got a clue what the …. is happening in there, so in the process of giving up until I have time to wrap my tiny brain around it 
PS – whereabouts in Aussie are you? I have a friend who would like to adopt a dog (she’s in Sydney) so any recommendations would be very helpful. Thanks a billion (that’s a lot Zena – kind of like a whole garden covered in yummy bones)

Cat from Hell did the dancing photo-shopping and she is amazing at it, actually uses the proper program. I have downloaded iPad apps and I have (wasted) spent a lot of time fiddling! Fortunately, I have the time and sometimes I just enjoy getting immersed in something arguably creative.
I’m in Melbourne so sadly have no knowledge of any places in Sydney. We have the RSPCA here of course and there will probably be a local council pound too. If your friend is computer literate doing a search on google will probably yield some shelters close to her. If she wants specific breed rescues can sometimes help. Hope she finds her furpal soon.
PS – hope you don’t mind if I steal a few pics off your site to put into today’s post. You can sue me, of course, but you’ll have to wait behind the other 3458 others wanting copious quantities of money

Wow Princess Zena your legs are queenlike! I think your help is the missed sister of my mom – she is such a “Valentine-Grinch”. She made a vet appointment for me – on VALENTINE’S day! and she said that’s the day of the florists…that’s a strange kind to say: I love you…pfffff …humans…
Oh poor Easy!!!! The vet? On Valentine’s day? Maybe the vet has a crush on you? Hope you have a wonderful treat afterwards to make up for it and that your paw is healing.

I think so – our legs are beautiful – and we have 4 – humans only two sticks ;o) The paw is patched up now – think I can dance like a tornado ;o)
